Have you ever wondered what makes a great article? Do you wish there was a checklist to help you make sure you’ve covered the bases and written a piece that will help your readers and achieve your business goals? If you’ve ever sought a template solution for your article-writing efforts, then this article may be a dream come true. Let's take a look at the five elements every article should have.

#1 Compelling Headline

The headline of your article or blog post is just as important as the headline for your sales copy. You want to grab the reader's attention. Let's face it, the more people who read your article, the more success you’re likely to have. Spend time on your headline. Brush up on copywriting techniques. Headlines should appeal to your reader on an emotional level, make an announcement, use numbers, arouse curiosity, ask a question or even make a promise.

#2 An Introduction

An introduction is a simple paragraph that draws the reader into your article and then tells them what the article is going to be about. It shouldn’t be any longer than two paragraphs or about ten sentences. Introductions can appeal to the emotions as well. You might ask questions that relate to the information you’re going to provide. Always transition from your introduction to the body of your article with some sort of sentence that tells the reader what you’re going to talk about. In this case, we said, Let's take a look at… It tells you what to expect next and what the article is about.

#3 The Body

The body of your article is where the meat is. However, the meat of your article shouldn’t be lumped together like a big package of hamburger. Instead, it should be delivered in small tidy paragraphs. This makes it easy for your reader to actually read your content. Additionally, it helps you keep your main points separate. You can, as we did in this article, separate your points with numbers and subheadings. You use bullets or simple stand-alone subheadings too.

#4 Conclusion

Once you’ve delivered the information you intended to deliver, the next step (but not the last) is to summarize it. This is often called the conclusion. It's a simple sentence or two that pulls all of your information back together.

#5 Call to Action

Call to Action
Before you complete your article there’s one last thing. It’s your call to action and it’s usually the last sentence, or two, in your article. This is where you tell your reader what to do next. Do you want them to subscribe to your list? Visit another page? Share your article on social media? Help keep your reader engaged with you and your website by always including a call to action.
So there you have it, a checklist of sorts that outlines the five things your article should have. Print it out. Practice it. Soon you’ll be an expert at writing articles.
